How I want to make an Impact

The Youth Lead will widely help me achieve my mission as I will get more knowledge and sufficient skills to smooth my path to realizing my dreams and overcoming common challenges. Also, I want to go for the fellowship because I need a positive change and a professional growth to be able to lift my community for better. I am looking forward to developing my skills and acquiring experience needed to make innovative projects and development in my career path so as to make positive impact in my community.

I aim to consistently train, mentor, and coach young people, connecting them with entrepreneurship and digital skills as well as investment funding, through annual conference, paid coaching program, Hackathon and pitching competitions as well as creating access to a mobile app that decentralized opportunities for learning entrepreneurship development and essential digital skills, and also creating a software platform that connect budding entrepreneurs, with potential angel and venture capital investors.. I am running this initiative in order to contribute to economic development, while creating opportunities for decent jobs for unemployed youths globally.

Short biography
Ismail Bello has over six years of experience in community development, youth development, and civic leadership in the nonprofit sector. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Al – Qalam University, Katsina State, Nigeria and a Master’s degree in Information Technology from National Open University of Nigeria. He specializes in creating intervention training programs and policy discussion projects that promote good governance, civic engagement, and political leadership. He has worked for six years as a youth mobilizer and youth development strategist in various capacities along projects sponsored by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through Yiaga Africa, United States Embassy in Nigeria, and European Union (EU). He has created innovative engagement models and development strategies for promoting access to good governance and political leadership among young people in Nigeria. While working with Yiaga Africa through a UNDP funded project, Ismail advocated for amendment of Nigeria’s constitution to reduce the age qualification for getting into various elective positions in Nigeria to allow for participatory opportunities in civic leadership through engagement in public offices. This gave him an opportunity to work with Nigeria’s law makers where they designed and implemented the right engagement approach that promoted youth inclusion in governance and participation in politics.
Ismail is currently a Youth Advisor in the EU Youth Sounding Board where he is working alongside the EU project implementing partners helping to design and implement youth development programming that had empowered young leaders to ignite transformative leadership change for youth political participation in communities and cities across Nigeria. In 2021, the impact he has created was shortlisted for a nomination by the United States Embassy in Nigeria at the prestigious International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) on Human Rights and Civic Engagements for Youths in Washington D.C., United States.
Previously, Ismail innovated Youth Entrepreneurship Support Hub (YES - Hub) Initiative in which he serves as a business coach for many organizations including Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) and collaborated and partners with many organization to provide young entrepreneurs with sufficient training in business development skills and essential entrepreneurial leadership training through a quarterly boot camp program, while also giving them an opportunity to pitch their ideas that has a business model into it to access funding opportunities that has helped them to start, grow, and scale their businesses into profitability.

Greetings Young Leaders !

Young SEA is a team of young hopeful changemakers from Philippines, Indonesia & Malaysia on a mission to create a better place for everyone to live in.

The project focuses on SDG 13 Climate Action specifically about tackling the environmental threat of untreated disposable mask waste caused by Covid-19. We have seen that the pandemic caused everyone to use disposable facemasks to protect ourselves but the action to limit its environmental impact has not yet been properly taken action upon, both in developed and developing countries.

With this in mind, we opted to organize a series of webinars about tackling this problem and also to empower young people about the many ways we can create a better world in this post-pandemic era.

We always stand by the quote, “If you can't do great things, do small things in a great way” by Napoleon Hill and we hope that through this slogan we will always be reminded of the simple ways we can do to achieve our goal— a place where no one is left behind.

Right now, we are participating in a #WatchOurImpact challenge by Youth Lead that you are part of and we would like people to discover our project and vote for us! Could you help us by voting for us?
