Growing up, I was faced with inferiority complex at tender of 5 because children who had it better would always laugh at me in my oversize torn uniform. I would shy away from speaking in public even when I knew what to say. However my father would often say to me ' You can be anything you want to be as long as you can picture it'. His words became the foundation for my quest to be a great leader. Furthermore, I knew I couldn't lead others by wrapping myself in the cloak of inferiority complex. So one day in primary school I gathered together a group of 8-10 year old pupils and organized different games and quiz in the school compound. It was no surprise when two months down the line I was elected the games prefect for my school. I got the courage needed to fan my leadership skills to flame from this and soon after I became the president of the debate club. On getting to secondary school, I was selected as an assistant sport prefect, the president the Debate and French Club. As a result of my determination to impact and inspire others I stood out.
During my undergraduate I became the senate president for dental students of the Nigerian Medical Association, Ternopil. In addition to this, I was still keen on taking up challenging positions, so immediately I was called to serve the Fellowship of Christian Students Ternopil as the assistant general coordinator; I embraced it with all enthusiasm. Using my different leadership positions I organized and influenced people to volunteer and give back to the community in Ternopil. Nevertheless, this didn’t affect my studies; seeing I graduated at the top of my class as the best foreign student in the faculty of dentistry.
After graduation, I co-founded KompleteWoman an organization that mentors young girls t
2018, I decided to merge my skills and drive to give back so I started Dentalcare Foundation, an organization that promotes and delivers free oral healthcare to rural areas. I am currently in charge of 10 volunteers and tasked with the position of influencing and driving them. I have had to fit into diverse leadership roles since I was young and this has ignited excellence and increased my circle of influence.
My passion to change lives drove me to start Dentalcare foundation. For me fulfillment comes when I can use both my skill and voice to impact the quality of life of another person. At Dentalcare Foundation we organize an oral health promotion programs consisting of 12 outreach projects a year in orphanages and public schools located in rural areas. These projects include oral health screening, distribution of free oral care kits, oral health education, community mobilisation, oral health advocacy and we plan to soon add building of tooth brushing stations in primary schools.
I want to join because more youths need to take the lead and spread the word that change begins by walking a thousand miles in the shoes of those we are impacting, it is not just about delivering aids and services rather it's about listening to what they care about and cultivating the greatness in them. As a dentist , who work with orphans and families in rural areas. I see a lot of below poverty level families we work with faced many difficult choices and access to oral healthcare seem to be the least of their problem. What do I do, I listen and find a way to unlock the potentials amidst all. This in itself is true impact. We must continue to tell the world that giving back and social development is not fruitful if we do not cultivate and harvests potentials.
