How I want to make an Impact

Chetna’s father came to Kolkata, one of the metro cities of India in search of livelihoods and settled at Metiabruz, one of the conservative communities of the city. In Metiabruz, women and girls were restricted from going out of their homes or earn a living.

Always a go-getter, Chetna believed in self-empowerment and refused to follow the societal norms for women. Post Chetna’s higher secondary (class XII) board exams, she started looking for technical education opportunities and wanted to enroll in private colleges in the city. With no budget to afford her studies and no support from her family, she started tutoring young children in her community to support her further education.

She started taking courses in IT and digital literacy at the Anudip Career Development center located very close to her home. Post her training, she was employed at Anudip’s 3D4D (3D printing for development) Cell as a 3D4D Executive. Chetna is now responsible for designing, printing, assembling and finishing 3D printed prosthetics for poor amputees.

Presently, she is funding her own studies and is engaged in distance education, while earning with dignity and learning an advanced technology. She is a role model for other young women in her community and holds her own as a self-driven independent woman with career ambitions.

Meet Chetna in the video below:

"Hello, my name is Chetna Singh. I am 22 years old. I am from a small town called Metiabruz, outside of Calcutta, which is a very conservative area where girls are not allowed to work or pursue higher education.Today, what I have become is thanks to my mom and dad and to Anudip because my parents encouraged me to study further and I got a lot of support from Anudip. After I trained at Anudip, I got a job there itself and I am very happy with my job. And that is why my mom and dad and Anudip are the most important in my life."
