Why do you want to join youthpower
How I want to make an Impact
Putting smile of face on young men and women's faces while connecting them to opportunities. I join because I perceive the responsibility an accountability to help people to grow their minds.
- 47% of the population is less than 15 years of age, thereby creating a high proportion of youth in the country (2005)
- Net enrollment in schools has decreased from 79% in 1991 to 44% in 2005. This presents a huge challenge for youth development (2009).
- More than70% of youth in the Republic of Congo is engaged in family work or is self -employed (UN). This shows bad state of employment opportunities, but on the other hand shows that there is can be a lot of scope in entrepreneurial ventures where mentoring can be great aid
- Getting an internet connection along with a continuous supply of electricity remains a challenge. (WHO)
- Technological infrastructure and conditions are likely to improve in future as the government has entered into an agreement with UNSECO regarding research and innovation. (UNSECO)
The decreasing rate of enrollment in schools provide a space for other kinds of youth development programs to fill the gap. Proper mentoring has shown to increase graduation rates
For our findings and results we aimed to find out strategies to grow our business based on the currently operating businesses in the field of mentoring and finding out information regarding how they operate. Our focus was also on finding potential partners and support agencies that can help in forming Koyekola and making it a successful avenue for youth mentoring.
