Why Investing in Youth Development Still Make Cents! In this article, I am suggesting that youth development is still a premium strategic choice for governments and donors as the returns to individuals, the economy, and society are significant. Three areas for investment are outlined, each with related benefits or returns. They are (i) investment in human capital (education and health)- exploits the youth bulge and brings long term economic benefits (ii) investment in civic participation and leadership- which supports the reproduction of active citizenship, (democratic) institutions and good governance and (iii) invest in youth talents, gits and ability- which can lead to innovation and problem-solving of some of the world's most intractable problems. As we charge in this last decade to the 2030 goals, we have a global collective duty to invest in the youth now and to deliver a more just and prosperous future!
