Watch the webinar - YouthLead Ambassadors Webinar: Youth Participation in Advocating for Peace, the Democratic Process, and Preventing Violent Extremism
Watch the Webinar
Africa has the youngest population in the world and it is growing fast. By 2055, the continent’s youth population (aged 15-24) is expected to be more than double the 226 million counted in 2015. The tension between the young and old, and between different ethnic, political, and religious groups, are exacerbated by shifts in control over power, resources, and people. Faced with rapidly changing socio-economic and political dynamics, young people remain prone to conflict, extremism and abuse—all threats to sustainable peace. The Positive Youth Development approach ensures the full participation of youth in all spheres of life, including peace-building. In this webinar, YouthLead Ambassadors Ronald Tatenda from Zimbabwe and Rahama Nantoumé from Mali will share how youth are affected by conflict, terrorism, and violent extremism. Using case studies from Zimbabwe and Mali, they will illustrate how youth can advocate and effectively participate in fostering sustainable peace and development.
