Watch the YouthLead Ambassadors Webinar on Youth Participation in Peace, Civic, and Democratic Processes: The Case of Guatemala

Watch the English Webinar

Latin America has one of the youngest populations in the world. According to the United Nations Population Fund Activities (UNFPA), “one in every four people is young.” The region is known for activism in which citizens often express their discontent with the current state of their countries; however, the involvement of youth in local and national democratic processes remains a challenge. A case of denial and exclusion exists in the social-political and decision-making processes. The need for youth to become active in politics and positive agents for peacebuilding and security is evident. Young people must take action, empower themselves, and become the part of the solution to the issues they face.

In recognition of World Peace Day, our YouthLead Ambassador Alejandra Teleguario, from Guatemala, will share her experiences and lessons learned on youth participation in peace, civic, and democratic processes. During this webinar, she uses Guatemala as a case example and share strategies on how youth can advocate and effectively participate in fostering sustainable peace and development.
