Unhindered access to primary education is a basic right of every child. However, 58 million children of primary school age remain out of school globally, with girls constituting 54%, according to UNICEF's 2019 data on "monitoring the situation of children and women."
In Liberia, access to education information and services has been identified as a major issue hindering enrollment, retention, and completion fo schools for girls. As part of a six-month education policy advocacy campaign aimed at tackling the issue, Youth Movement Collective Action (UMOVEMENT) over the weekend brought together over 20 education stakeholders in a dialogue table in Monrovia to identify underlying factors and mechanisms needed to address the barrier.
