This is a short video (two minutes and twenty five seconds) produced by Restless Development in the Diversity and inclusion series. In this video, Primrose Manyalo, International Senior Youth Coordinator, makes a powerful statement about what still needs to be done in the international development to be more inclusive of women of color in power.
She acknowledges she is proud to be in the international leadership team as a young female black person and also to be a member of the international external engagement running one of the biggest reproductive justice programs across Africa and Central America, but puts emphasis that not many African women are in international leadership positions.
Some of the key things she points out in the video are the importance of us coming together to proactively tackle white supremacy culture, and offer a safe space free from negative impacts of structural racism and bias to thrive. This short video clip was played on Day 2 of the USAID Positive Youth Development Symposium during the session around Trust, Bias, and the Roots of Inequality: How to Address Diversity in MYE.
