Shahd is 23 years old was born and raised in Karak-Jordan which is located in the South of Jordan and characterized with very limited employment opportunities. Shahd lives at home with nine family members – her father is a retired Ministry of Education employee and her mother is a retired Ministry of Social Development employee.
Shahd has earned a Bachelor of Management Information System from Mutah University. After graduation from university, she tried to find a job in her governorate but not being able to do so, she took courses to improve her skills. She has been volunteering since there are no other options for her to work or leave the South.
Shahd has earned the International Certificates in Business Competence, taken courses in Basic Life Skills, and in Essentials of Journalism as well as participated in a program enabling young people in Jordanian universities to play an active role in the political and decision-making processes in Jordan. She took a training with EFE- Jordan aimed at reducing unemployment among Jordanian youth especially fresh graduates through offering training and placement services.
She also attended sessions conducted by different International NGOs such as Global Scribes and of International Relief and Development. She used to be a volunteer at Creativity Club in Karak and now works with them as a volunteer in a Mercy Corps project in their psychosocial support unit.
Shahd is working to get a full time job and hopes to obtain a high diploma in human development, entrepreneurship and human resource management, and to become a world-class trainer and a person with influence in her society and among youth. She also hopes to be a liaison officer for EFE- Jordan to serve young people in the South.
