How to reduce your foodprint
You may have heard of reducing your carbon footprint, the emission of greenhouse gas that is mainly caused by human activities and contributes to climate change, but what is a "footprint"? Similar to a carbon footprint, a footprint is pressure put on the environment from unsustainable food consumption patterns.
Food loss and waste play big roles in leaving "foodprints". Food loss and waste "refer to the decrease in mass (quantitative) or nutritional value (qualitative) of food - edible parts - throughout the supply chain that was intended for human consumption". Food loss is food that goes bad or becomes inedible for whatever reason and is now lost. Food waste is that is fit for consumption, but for whatever reason is not consumed.
Reducing food loss and waste, are great opportunities to take individual action to respect our planet and fight against climate change!
