Why a WHO Youth Delegate?

As you might know, the IFMSA has been working on Meaningful Youth Engagement and inclusion of the voice of young people in decision making since its founding 70 years ago. Being in official relations with the World Health Organization since 1969, the IFMSA collaborates in different ways with them. One way for young people to be meaningfully engaged is for them to be part of the official delegations of their Member States to the WHO high-level meetings. There have been a few successful youth delegate programs in the past, but definitely not many. To facilitate setting up such a youth delegate program and make sure that young people can engage with this great opportunity for engagement, we have created the toolkit.

What is in the toolkit?

The following topics will be touched upon in the toolkit, which will hopefully provide an encompassing set of resources to help you plan and execute your youth delegate program:

  • Introduction and background: learn all about what WHO Youth Delegate Programs are and their importance
  • Starter kit: find all your tools to get started including a fact sheet and an action plan template
  • Step-by-step guide: find all the steps to take to set up your WHO Youth Delegate Program
  • Best practices: learn from successful WHO Youth Delegate Programs
  • Additional resources: find even more sources to learn more
