On the program of the ITEF 2018: a discussion panel, a group session, digital opportunities, e-commerce training, e-learning and especially a pitch contest where young people will have to present their companies to the world and win prices and funds available, in the five cities of the country on the topics mentioned.
This YLAI (Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative) Reverse Exchange Program aims to provide a road map for changing the course of the economy and entrepreneurship in these regions by focusing on youth and women.
From my personal point of view, this initiative was timely. In fact, Haitian youth is the engine of development.
Consider the facts. At the national level, we are witnessing a demographic erosion as more than 44 thousand Haitians - mostly young people - settled in Chile in 2017. Undoubtedly, immigration is a boon to Chile whose the population is aging. The arrival of Haitians and migrants from other neighboring states continues the ongoing economic growth of Chile.
On the other hand, Haitian economic growth is declining and the international press is talking about Haiti as "a factory of poverty".
Such an initiative can help young people develop an entrepreneurial culture.
What about women? At a time when we are aiming at the professional integration of women in business, they should also be aware of the opportunities offered by digital technology. Indeed, technology is an open door and opportunities are at your fingertips.
If we want to promote gender equity in all activities, women entrepreneurs must integrate and excel in this field of employability. It should be noted that women are very active in working life, whether in rural or urban areas. Digital is a tool that boosts the economy. Networking and platform creation can help women to exchange and generate more money. Eh yes. Women deserve to get the spotlight on the digital debate.
Already, good success to this initiative!
