At Girls Empowerment Network, we begin the holiday season being grateful of many things. This year has been different for everyone, but luckily we have had the ability to make sure we have a way to bring magic to girls in our communities during this year that is different for us all. With the creation of Spark Kits we have been able to offer a product for girls that is the gift that keeps giving in more ways than one! Thanks to Spark Kits girls receive GIRL POWER in a box, which include creative activities and the supplies they need, and they also include engagement time with our girl experts and other girls throughout Texas. We have also had the opportunity to continue virtual services like Professional Developments, Parent/Guardian Workshops, and workshops like the one we had this past Saturday, “Girls with Gratitude.”

During our Girls with Gratitude, girls were led through activities where they focused on thinking about their gratitudes and learned practicing times where they can meditate on their gratitudes. At the end of this workshop, girls shared what they were grateful for going into their Thanksgiving break. They included items that allowed them to be connected with others, people they collaborate with, and being grateful for:

  • The special people in my life

  • My family

  • My supportive friends

  • Technology for allowing me to be here today

  • My pets

  • Books

  • Other girls that were present in the workshop

As we also go into our Thanksgiving break, we’d like to share our own gratitudes from Girls Empowerment Network. We’d like to give our thanks to our donors who have helped us serve more girls, our volunteers who are always helping us from writing relatable role model letters to girls to decorating THOUSANDS of Spark Kits, school champions who are making sure Spark Kits and services are being at reach for girls, and anyone who has been joined us at different virtual events throughout 2020. Read our Impact Highlights and join us in Ringing the Bell during this unique and innovative year!
