InterAction Forum 2.1 Learning Session: COVID-19 Aftershocks—Funding Challenges The onset of COVID-19 challenged the international humanitarian system and its ability to adapt to rapidly changing global circumstances. NGOs on the frontline of humanitarian crises required flexibility from donors to continue existing humanitarian programming and rapid injection of funds to scale up their response to the virus's spread. Months after the pandemic was declared, however, very little funding had reached frontline actors, and many NGOs were left struggling. This session explored lessons learned from the COVID-19 response and what they mean for the way forward for the international humanitarian system and NGO efforts to improve it.
