El Consenso de Montevideo es considerado una herramienta y una nueva ruta que contiene una serie de acuerdos para reforzar la implementación de los asuntos de población y desarrollo después de 2014, al término de la Primera Reunión de la Conferencia Regional sobre Población y Desarrollo de América Latina y el Caribe.

Los países firmantes de este consenso deciden adoptar las siguientes medidas prioritarias identificadas en la Propuesta de agenda regional
en población y desarrollo para América Latina y el Caribe después de 20142, para reforzar la
implementación del Programa de Acción de El Cairo y su seguimiento.
