The youth are important to the future of Agriculture. Any country which doesn’t take the role of technology serious in agriculture will be left behind. Policy is important in creating an enabling environment for agriculture to thrive.Agriculture goes far beyond food production to other parts of the value chain like processing, storage, etc

Anthony Acquah

During the programme, I got to learn that, digitalization of agriculture in a sustainable way will be a driving force for Africa’s progress and development. This then brings about many job opportunities for us the youth. We should try as much as possible to do with the little we have when it comes to agriculture to call the attention of various stakeholders.

I have come to learn the going into agribusiness is not just farming but also being able to provide certain services that will increase production and supply of food to be able to meet the demands of people. If we will grow digital for agricultural transformation then the youth must take the lead.

The local farmers must be introduced to the new technology that comes with digitization and how to utilize them because famers may not have the solutions to their problems due to the lack of technical know how and resources but surely they know their problems better.

The right resources could help rural women maximize economic opportunities, increase productivity, and improve food security, education and healthcare, since women tend to reinvest in their households.

I have realised that agriculture is one of the lucrative business that the youth can take advantage of. My general advice to my colleagues (youth) is that, there are a lot in agriculture beyond expectation.

I felt content knowing that my contributions as a youthmapper were helping to build a stronger and efficient agriculture sector in Ghana and across the globe. In fact, our effort to deploy free and open data software in capturing farmers profile and mapping farmlands was cited by the panellist as one of the key information that forms the basis for agricultural-related decision.
