TITLE -Your Vote is Your Right: Do Not Sell Your Vote
It was a voter’s awareness campaign in Benin City, Edo State in preparation for the 2019 general election in Nigeria to promote active citizenship, improved participation in the democratic space and enhances the integrity of the electoral process in Nigeria. It seeks to raise the voter’s rights awareness to achieve success in the electoral process. It allows citizens to take ownership of the electoral process to enshrine the sanctity of the “One Man, One Vote” mantra on which democracy is based. The awareness sensitization went through major roads and streets of the Benin City including major markets, and bus stops, encouraging people to vote with integrity and say no to vote buying/selling, promoting peace and nonviolence before, during and after elections. The specific objective is to increase the capacities of citizens as key stakeholders and watchdog with rights to put the much-needed checks on the electoral process. It was held on the 9th of February, 2019 in Benin City, Edo State Nigeria. I partnered with concerned citizens and Edo Civil Society Organisations.
