TITLE -YL_SMITH_NWOKOCHA_GIRLCHILDDAYCELEBRATION
AFRICAN YOUTH UNION COMMISSION CELEBRATES GIRL CHILD DAY!
AT ROYAL GARDENS HOTEL, OPPOSITE AIRFORCE BARRACK, ABA ROAD, PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE, NIGERIA.
AT THE GIRL CHLD DAY (11th OCTOBER, 2018)
1. Create a help desk for women and children who are violated to air their grievances.
2. Make a Law mandating parents to train their Children/Wards up to secondary school level, thereby preventing loitering, hawking and other nuisances during school hours.
3. Mentoring Pogrammes for the Girl Child should be organized by the Ministries of Women Affairs and Education respectively.
4. The Government should increase support for NGOs/CSOs whose attention are on rape, domestic violence as well as other vices against the Girl Child to enable them to continue widespread sensitization.
5. Government should ensure proper implementation of law prohibiting harmful practices against women as well as the Girl Child.
6. Women should be given the necessary awareness and be actively involved in the political process as well as support their own, to be given the required representation.
Counselling Units should be established in all schools in Rivers State to break the culture of silence.
