This picture was taken during the cleanup campaign named Keep Lesotho Clean (#KeepLesothoCampaign). #KeepLesothoCampaign is an initiative founded by a group of young self-starters who saw a need to clean key public areas in the city of Maseru. It began with a cleaning campaign attended by more than 70 people in the Bus Stop Areas of Maseru on 6 April 2019, and in the past few weeks we have evolved into a lobby group that seeks to achieve the following objectives to address the issue of waste management in Lesotho. This initiative is spread across the country and we are going to teach people about protecting and cleaning the environment and how they could recycle waste materials segregating bio-degradable and non-bio-degradable waste. Non –bio-degradable waste like plastic waste could be used as greenhouse and plastic bottle as drip irrigation for some plants like trees and green peppers while bio-degradable waste used as compost for our farms.
