TITLE -Using Arts to Promote Youth Innovation and Sustain the Fight Against Drugs Abuse (UPSA)
There are lots of Young talents on the Africans continent that needs support to make an impactful contribution to the continent’s growth and development. As it stands, it seen like those supports are lacking and there is no hope for the future for many of those young talents. In the absence of those supports, many of these young talents turned to be frustrated, and at the end result, they are seeing engage in harmful activities such as the use of illicit drugs and extensive mob violence activities which create insecurity for many communities. To curb this growing challenge, as display in this photo, the UPSA project recruits those forgetting young talents from the ghettos and slums and place them at the center of decision-making and in return served their community as agents of change. Emmanuel Kollie, a 14 years old young talented drugs addicted 9th grade Student and one of the beneficiaries of the UPSA project who have experienced and witnessed the harmful effects of mob violence and illicit drugs, now his innovation is being used by the UPSA project to create awareness about negative and harmful effects mob violence and illicit drugs in Ganta City, Nimba County. He is very creative and innovative. He made Motorcycle and electric Fen using empty cartons/ boxes. He wants to become a Mechanical Engineer but unfortunately, he sees himself at the bottom of abject poverty, this means without help, his dream will die. To get the Africa we want, we must grow the talents we got.
