Land, Work and Family: Potato Harvest in Communities of Chinchero, Cusco
Potato picking is part of the daily family activities in the high Andean communities of southern Peru. This activity, is part of the harvest phase and is carried out in a simple way, mainly summoning close relatives such as children, nephews, uncles, etc., incorporating all regardless of age or gender. I have been working with several families in the communities on water management to improve distributions and irrigation systems. As part of the field work I have accompanied varies potato harvests to contribute to the labor force, as well as building friendly ties with the different families.
