TITLE -The Pursuit of Regime Change
Anti-riot police officers beat up an apologetic elderly woman at the main entrance to the Harare Magistrates Court building during the electoral reforms protest on 26 August 2016, in Harare, Zimbabwe. During the coverage of the 2016 protests this picture made international headlines. This picture later caught the attention of the regional media institution the eNCA in South Africa, who interviewed me, which caught the attention of the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights who represented Chinyerere as a result. Later, the lawyers sought damages from the police for Chinyerere in a case that went to the High Court of Zimbabwe. During the case, my picture was used as the main piece of evidence that led to the judge on October 3, 2018, over two years later, ordering the police to pay $13,500 in damages to Chinyerere.
