TITLE -IVY
456 displaced children at resident at the Daudu IDP Camp in Benue, Nigeria were involved in a reading challenge to promote inclusive and qualitative education for them through the reading of the IVY illustration book on importance of investing in girl education.
The book with its colorful images and simplified dialogue offered the children a practical learning environment where they learned new words and their meaning and the challenges of school dropout.
The project uses a curriculum guide to aid the volunteers on how to conduct the alternative classes for the children and get them to role play the story read. This builds a sense of understanding social issues and also actively preparing them towards civic participation.
The children also though out of school will learn new words and build an active reading habit as the illustration book offers an interesting read for all.
