TITLE -Freee Basic Digital Skills Training in Bomet county -Kenya
Bomet County Youth Empowerment through Free Basic Digital Skills Training
In 2017 I initiated successful Google Digital Skills Training Conducted in Bomet County through a partnership between YALI Regional Leadership Center, Alumni chapter of Kenya, and Ark Digital Marketing Solutions.
Training of youth age 18-35 in Bomet East Youth Empowerment center was conducted on Thursday 16/11/2017 and 258 youth trained, in Konoin Youth Empowerment Center 350 youth trained on Friday 17/11/2017 and Sotik Youth Empowerment Center 210 youth trained on Saturday 18/11/2017. A total of 818 youth benefited from Google digital skills training in phase one (1) and the impact has been realized across the county
Phase 2 digital skills training was conducted in Bomet Central sub county on 27/11/2017 at Kiplokyi African Gospel Church where 251 youth and Chepalungu sub county on 28/11/2017 at Sigor Boys High School where 313 youth were trained respectively and on 22/2/2018 at Kaplong Technical Institute where 118 students were trained. All the youth trained were awarded free certificate of participation by Google.
The training was geared to empowering in Bomet County youth to be SMART in Technological skills to experience sustainable transformation of their lives and to date many youth have engaged in online business and earn income to sustain their lives.
