I conducted the training of “20 New Leaders” which is a project I designed to develop and equip the capacity of 20 selected leaders that have shown promise and commitment to civic leadership. I Focused on Community Organizing as a leadership practice. I am delighted by both the turn out and the outcome of the project. Leadership is a complex topic. What does it mean to be a good leader? How do good leaders know when to lead and when to step back? What is the difference between seeking power and being an effective leader? These are some of the questions I tried to answer at the 5 days 20 New Voices Leadership training! I affirmed that “Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.”
I get the selected leaders to understand and acknowledge that “If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then, you are an excellent leader.” Congratulations to all the new leaders and a big thank you to the YALI hub Katsina for collaborating with the Youth Entrepreneurship Support Hub (YesHub) to do this project.
