Due to the global health crisis, many students have had to drop out of classes and extracurricular activities or workshops. Quarantine has forced institutions, businesses, and schools to reinvent themselves online however, since many people have lost their jobs or have been recieving a lower salary than before, education has become less accessible. Therefore, I decided to create a platform where people can learn English online via Google Meet or Zoom from the safety and comfort of their homes. The main stakeholders are immigrants in the United States or other English speaking countries who want to improve their English language skills and Peruvians who currently reside in the outskirts of the capital or a province and have access to the internet whether it is by phone, laptop, PC or a public internet cabin.

Currently, I am working for an organization called YAPANAX Hello World in which we teach different languages to people who live in provinces in Peru and other Latin American countries. Many of the students have been granted a form of scholarship in which they are able to take the online courses for free. My project aims to evolve this concept towards people who are immigrants living in the United States where education has a higher cost than it does here in Peru, as well as Peruvians who live in the outskirts of Lima or provinces where English language institutions aren't as accessible as it is in the capital city. Many immigrants rely on their children to translate for them. As a first generation Peruvian American, I saw first hand how many of my family members could not afford to pay for a personal English tutor or felt too old or insecure to enroll in college for one language course.
