Adolescents girls and young women within the Maasai communities are subject to socio-economic cultures which are oppressive in nature thus subjecting them to various forms of Gender Based Violence, including early pregnancies and HIV/AIDS. Circumstances such as poverty leads to a huge number dropping out of schools. This takes away their autonomy and control over their bodies exposing them to sex work at a young age. It is with these reasons that there is a need to address the rising prevalence of HIV/AIDS among adolescents girls and young women.

WHAT EVIDENCE DO YOU HAVE THAT YOUR PROJECT WORKS?
Tujiamini projects to accomplish this through strategies such as community conversations led by community activists using questioning to stimulate critical thinking that leads to change of beliefs and values or practices.
Tujiamini will also focus on multi-sectoral, multi-disciplinary and multi- level responses to strengthen and support the livelihoods of girls and young women and economic strengthening opportunities through training on farming, mat weaving and table banking.
DO YOU HAVE CURRENT USERS OR TESTERS?
Tujiamini has started formed several kitchen gardens in households where the family has access to food.
Table banking groups have also been formed where household members are guided by individual household interest.
