Funded by the US Department of State’s Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues, the project supports S/GWI’s goal to promote the rights and empowerment of women and girls through three closely linked Objectives:
• Objective 1: Young people are more resilient to restrictive gender norms affecting their life choices and opportunities.
• Objective 2: An enabling environment is cultivated in schools or community-based organizations and communities to foster equal collaboration amongst young people.
• Objective 3: A network of participants, stakeholders, and partners at the community and national levels better promote girls’ increased skills and opportunities.
In 2021, around 10 She's GREAT! participants in Princess Basma Center for Human Development planted hydroponic plants in their center in coordination with an engineer to guide them. The idea behind this was to increase women's economic sufficiency and participation, moreover, to encourage food security in the community. They did not only succeed in planting these hydroponic plants but also these plants were displayed after in the center and were used as a tool for awareness sessions for women in communities on how to plant these plants for their own benefit. This was major as these plants do not need to be done outside which can include more women in community who mainly spend their days at home for house and childrearing roles.
