MED ( Mandela Ethiopia Doctors) has identified that the safety of female health professionals is neglected in health institutions and teaching Hospitals. In order to confront GBV in the health care settings, MED was part of the 16 Days of activism through giving a platform for the stories of survivors of sexual harassment in the workplace. The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign is an international campaign which originated from the first Women's Global Leadership Institute coordinated by the Center for Women's Global Leadership in 1991. It extends from November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of
Violence against Women, to December 10th, Human Rights Day. It aims at ending violence against women and girls around the world by galvanizing action from individuals and organizations around the world to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. In 2018, the theme of the campaign was Orange the world: |HearMeToo. MED's theme was Hear Me Too | Safe Space For Health Care. The "Safe Space For Health Care” is an ongoing movement against GBV in the health care workplace.
