Social vices in our society has been attributed to poverty, unemployment and
unresiveness. Today a sizeable number of children are out of school. They lack
access to basic education and this has increased unemployment, poverty and
unrestiveness. Our country has oven plunged into violent extremism like
insurgency and banditry.
Nigeria needs peace and economic growth when citizens are gainfully
employed, not only do they have empowerment but crime and all forms of
social vices are greatly reduced.
In Kano State, if is estimated that about three million children are out of school.
The Almagiri System has failed in most cases to teach the beneficiaries any
form of vocational skill to take them out of poverty. Due to the financial burden
of catering for these children, they are often sent to beg for food and alms. This
has exposed them to dangers of being used to perpetuate evil in the society and
in extreme case death.
Association for Progressive African Youths (AJAP) Nigeria is poised to
encourage peaceful co-existence among every citizen irrespective of religion,
ethnic group or gender. We are interested in empowerment the beneficiaries of
the Almagiri System with vocational skills to increase their economic status and
reduce social vices. However, AJAP Nigeria plan for vocational skills training will work in with
traditional and religious leaders to make the community own the project and
sustain the program. We will take this project to the grass root and where the
beneficiaries are found.
