PRESS RELEASE
Juba: Today, 25th November 2021, marks the 30th commemoration of the global 16 days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. This years’ campaign theme set by the UN Secretary is; Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now!”
At Koneta, we join the world and all the organizations who have committed to achieve this campaign and this cause. We are working with vulnerable young girls and women and we have learnt and understood how they have been marginalized, restricted and sidelined in our society. Given low attention and opportunities yet they are dedicated in their households building resilient families and economies in the unfriendly environments.
We therefore, join our hands to this cause calling an end to violence against women!!
We acknowledge that women have been abused in their lifetime more especially during times of crises and conflicts and climatic disasters.
We wish to recognize that sexual harassment, gender stereotypes and sexism at work, just like gender-based violence against women, are crucial factors holding back women, not just in their careers but in all aspects of life. We call upon and encourage all stakeholders to strengthen their systems and to remain committed to protecting the women.
We also want to call upon survivors and victims of GBV in our communities to not keep quiet but to report all forms of GBV to the nearest police or organizations that working towards ending violence against the women.
As Koneta, we remain committed to ending all of forms of violence against young girls and women by protecting, working with and supporting them as well call for collaborative gender-centered approaches and innovations in health, education, climatic actions and economic empowerment programs.
The End
