This program is the first bamboo reforestation project in Haiti that aims to raise awareness of planting bamboo as a real weapon to fight against environmental and socio-economic problems and give them rapid training on the use of bamboo that are there. necessary.
This project is characterized by four (4) successive phases, the first phase of which is ongoing, is a key phase in the creation of a Bamboo culture in Haiti. This global project will create bamboo vegetation cover in Haiti and create Bamboo production workshops across the 10 departments for sustainable bamboo exploitation in Haiti.
The first phase of the project (August 2019 - February 2020) has as its main objective to create the necessary conditions to encourage community reforestation in Bamboo through schools, media and associations of the different municipalities in the North, from the demonstration plots and decentralized nurseries to master Bamboo production techniques. At this stage, Bambou Facile will create a database that will contain potential Bamboo Garden Contractors and plots available. At each department, a day or two days of bamboo planting will be allocated (1000 seedlings per department).
The second phase of the project will train nurseries, designated in the first phase by Bambou Facile in concert with public and private institutions in related communities. The PREBHA has for this purpose the production and distribution of bamboo seedlings (5000 seedlings / departments).
The third phase will progressively incorporate the other concerns of the communities and will undertake adjustments with respect to the village terroirs. Through this phase, production workshops and a showroom will be inserted.
The fourth and last phase is a phase of external disengagement and support which will have as its main objective the consolidation of the achievements, the support and the setting up of the sustainable institutional structures likely to take over the activities after the end of the year. project, through the capacity building of technical, organizational and financial interventions of populations, and the self-promotion of development at the community level in Haiti.
The target departments here for the first phase are: North Department (Cap-Haitien, Milot, Plaine du Nord) and North Department. This phase will be replicated in the other departments of the country.
