Nominated by the United Nation Inter-Agency on Youth Development (IANYD) for The International Labour Organization (ILO) Global Youth Employment Forum: An ILO Centenary Celebration with the theme: Today and Tomorrow with decent jobs for Youths ……
Upon receiving the nomination by the United Nations Inter-Agency on Youth Development (IANYD) for The International Labour Organization (ILO) Global Youth Employment Forum, I was selected among 17 participants to present ideas, innovations and thoughts that will help transform youth unemployment in Nigeria and Sub – Saharan Africa, I discussed extensively to 150 participants of the forum from 60 countries on my project “What youths and women wants: voices for change”. I received a massive feedback among the participants who are willing to partner and collaborate with the Katsina State Not Too Young To Run Movement to actualize the idea. I came up with some 5 key deliberations and recommendations in form of an action plan that will redefine the future of work and youths access to employment and entrepreneurship across the world. The 5 key areas are:
- Pro-employment: Discussions on microeconomic policies that will contribute to economic growth and development.
- Investment in quality education and skills that is needed by youths and that will help them to be relevant in the future.
- Promoting youth entrepreneurship and employment solutions
- Being respectful for the rights of young workers
- For young people to come together and overcome all form of discriminations.
