This period is the right time to broaden their horizons, learn how to control emotions and build relationships, and gain knowledge and skills that are important for the future. In addition, the young generation are on their way in searching for identity.
The young generation is the future of the nation. Nowadays, the willingness of the young generation to contribute to the development of the nation is declining. This phenomenon happened due to the individualistic attitudes. Therefore, the nation's next generation needs to be aware of the importance of early learning for the nation's future. In addition, assistance from various parties is needed, both from families or more mature people as well as they have a positive foresight in developing the country.
"Medication for your mind" adjusting 4.0 industrial revolution is a program for young people to provide direction in facing the challenges in this era of globalization. The young generation is expected to be able to foster sensitivity to others and their environment to grow and develop the potential within themselves in solving existing problems. The program is supported by "Medication” (Media Ethics and Prevention of Hoax) for Your Mind" to high school students in Jabodetabek who aim to raise awareness of ethical importance in social media and prevent lies in the period associated with the 2019 campaign.
Over time, the use of technology has experienced a significant increase. The presence of technology accelerates the globalization process throughout the world, especially through social media. Nowadays, most people around the world interact and share information freely using social media. The use of free social media does not mean without ethics. Social media behaviour is very much determined by its users. Not a few social problems that occur due to lack of public awareness in ethics on social media.
In 2018/2019, social media has strategic role in the world of politics. According to Saiful Mujani Research & Consulting (SMRC), the majority of prospective voters aged 17-38 reached 55% in 2019. Social media which is the main stream of information for the younger generation is seen as an effective tool in campaigning, colliding opinions, including dropping opponents. The pressure of using social media for this purpose iincreasing. If social media is not used wisely, it is feared that the younger generation will be easily affected and there will be misperceptions, escalation of conflict, and riots.
Recognizing this, we would like the younger generation to be smarter in using social media by providing education in social media and preventing hoaxes so that they are not easily carried away by political currents. Beside that, we would like to prepare the young generation to cope with the digital era through various workshops.
Since the government has enacted some cyberspace laws, the society is expected to not disseminating hoaxes and hate speeches. But not all of the citizen aware about this problems and the laws. From that issue, Katalisator Muda Indonesia would like to educate the citizen, especially the young generation to be aware of this issues through series of digital literacy workshop. Along with the workshop, Katalisator Muda Indoesia will also give the young generation several skills needed to cope with the industrial revolution 4.0. The skills that will be taught will be critical thinking, content creating and content writing.
