Lyon House is an organization dedicating to bridging the resource gap for local homeless youth, specifically ages (18-24) as those are the most in need in this area. Following the Housing First model, Lyon House provides an unsupervised place of residence, but mainly focuses on community engagement (re-humanizing the formerly homeless), skills building (in order to achieve academic and professional goals), and civic action (to make systemic changes). Lyon House is a space that acts as a foundation or jumping off point and ideally will be a temporary solution, however extended stay and/or returning residents are expected - much like college graduates having to return to their parents' houses.
Lyon House will start locally, but we hope to expand eventually.
*Lyon House was named after my father, who had little access to resources before joining the military and ultimately turning his life around.
