The Ilparakuo Water Project is an Initiative of Ambitious Girls 254 to mainly provide water to the residents of Ilparakuo village and its environs, in a bid to keep boys and girls in schools and prevent them from travelling for long distance in search of water. Long term Some of the activities to be carried out in achieving the above mentioned set of objectives include, but are not limited to: 1. Free mentorship – • To ensure consistent mentorship and thorough follow up on the mentees. • These will be on a consistent quarterly basis in order to keep the school going girls and boys in check. The issues to be addressed include: • Gender based violence • Female Genital Mutilation • Early teenage pregnancies • School drop outs and • Forced marriages 2. Tree planting – Ambitious Girls, in collaboration with various community stakeholders will ensure trees are planted in the region. 3. Free sanitary give away – We desire to make sure that no girl misses school for lack of sanitary towels. 4. Free undergarments this is to be donated to the girls and boys in schools within the area. THE FUTURE OF THE PROJECT The future of Ilparakuo water project is to ensure that • There is constant water supply to the target population. • There are mentors from the various schools who can reach out to the other through sharing of experience and skills acquired during the mentorship forums. WHAT EVIDENCE DO YOU HAVE THAT YOUR PROJECT WORKS?
Kajiado is a very dry area.Providing water which is a basic need to the residents of the area will ensure boys and girls are kept in in schools and prevent them from travelling for long distance in search of water which puts their life at risk.Cases of early pregnancies are rape will reduce as girls will not have to walk along lonely paths to fall victims of rapists.

There is one community school that has water tank installed and the pupils there perform well academically and they have high chances of completing their education other than getting married off.
