As Vision for Change we are working with the youth clubs of the area in planting of trees and protection of natural registration. They will be provided with pine seedlings to plant and capacity of environmental stewardship for natural registration and environmental protection against deforestation and bush fire i.e creating firebreaks. We are also working with local leaders to ensure their full participation in project implementation and monitoring for sustenance of the project.
As Vision for Change we started doing this work and after releasing that it needs large group we then extended it to other youths groups but we are the leading group. We are going to hold a public awareness where the youths and elders will be in attendance and brief them about the project. Every youth club is going to be given its area of operation according to its proximity i.e where to plant trees and promote natural regeneration under the guidance of local leaders. The youths will then be schooled on land preparation, marking, pitting and planting of trees. The project is expected to start in May 2019 and it will take place in Mphompha area in Chitipa district northern region of Malawi. The involvement of the youths is vital in this project because they have long lifespan and having them involved will help in the sustainability of the project, they are also energetic for efficiency and performance during the project. The youths will also be turned to be champions and message carriers to pass to the next generation for sustenance. The local leaders will help to harmonize the immoral behaviors happening against the environment and tree specie chosen has an economic incentive that will attract many to be involved. Pine specie does very well on the mentioned site due to its natural favorable conditions which will make implementation easier. So we have raised $1000 but the total budget is $5560 this money is very important because it will be used in purchasing the pine seedlings that will be used for afforestation. The grant will also be used to pay for transportation of seedlings from the sites they were raised to sites they are going to be planted
