The Drug Prevention and Management Project involves dissemination sensitization outreaches with regard to behavioral, biological, environmental, behavioral, and social causes and consequences of recreational drug abuse across all ages. These sessions are not only limited to information-only forums but also incorporates outpatient rehabilitation services.
Currently, we are targeting productive youths in our drug demand reduction interventions. This is because many youths have been drowning in the quagmire of recreational drug abuse. We conduct this mainly through our unique family-based drug prevention intervention due to the coronavirus pandemic. Moreover, we target the youths as they go about their businesses in the streets.
Importantly, this project has given me the opportunity to reach over 100,000 youths over 2 years. In addition to that, I have been an integral cog in the formulation of the Western Kenya Drug Prevention and Management Technical Working Group's Strategic Plan 2021-2026.
Before the pandemic, we used to touch the lives of children and youths by visiting them in their respective institutions.
