About the Event
The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit think tank dedicated to shifting the world’s focus to peace as a positive, achievable, and tangible measure of human well-being and progress. The IEP achieves its goals by developing new conceptual frameworks to define peacefulness; providing metrics for measuring peace; and uncovering the relationships between business, peace, and prosperity as well as promoting a better understanding of the cultural, economic, and political factors that create peace.
The IEP's Global Peace Index (GPI) is the world’s leading measure of global peacefulness. It presents the most comprehensive data-driven analysis to date on trends in peace, the economic value of peace, and how to develop peaceful societies. The GPI covers 163 countries comprising 99.7 percent of the world’s population, using twenty-three qualitative and quantitative indicators from highly respected sources, and measures the state of peace across three domains: the level of societal safety and security; the extent of ongoing domestic and international conflict; and the degree of militarization.
The IEP Ambassador Program provides an opportunity for individuals with both extensive experience in peace, as well as those new to the field, to gain concrete knowledge and resources to help foster peace in their communities. This includes an in-depth understanding of IEP’s research and methodology, as well as a concrete understanding of how to communicate peace research. Ultimately, IEP Ambassadors are part of an international network of leaders who are creating a paradigm shift in the way the world interacts with and understands peace.
This is the first in a two-part webinar series about the role of youth in promoting peace. Part Two of this webinar series focuses on the IEP’s Positive Peace Academy, a free short course that introduces the transformational framework of Positive Peace and explores how Positive Peace is associated with better performance on ecological sustainability, improved wellbeing, stronger GDP growth rates, and better business outcomes.
