My passion to initiate change in a challenging environment, organize teams and bring lasting solutions to existing problems in any setting define me as a resilient and inspirational leader. As a young man, I spent most of my youthful days in the village. I became familiar with the challenges that face young talented minds at both primary and secondary school level. This includes poor interest in education, lack of textbooks, poor parental supervision and mentorship. This is due to the high level of illiteracy and poor value for education among rural men and women. To solve the above problems, I organized evening lectures to educate and advise young school children on the value of education in our modern society and the need to have a definite resolve to succeed in life no matter the circumstance. I made them understand that my poor family background and lack of parental care was never an excuse for failure rather I was passionately determined to succeed with all diligence and hard work. I converted the village playground into a classroom with over 50 members where I taught them mathematics, biology, physics and other subjects that were difficult for them to understand. Besides, I solved various academic assignments with their maximum participation and also gave career advice based on their capabilities. Their performance in school improved and their parents expressed their gratitude for my effort and I used the opportunity to advise them on the need to sustain their children's interest in academics.
Afterwards, my friends joined me and with collective effort, we provided textbooks and writing materials for the students. This increased their interest in education. Many of them who sat for the West African Examination (WAEC) in April 2016, achieved excellent grades and gained admission into various prestigious universities in the country. The beneficiaries of this movement have continued to replicate similar results in other young children in the village through various scholarship awards to outstanding students especially, in the primary and secondary schools.
