Environment in Humanitarian Action
Welcome to the Environment in Humanitarian Action course!
This e-learning course will provide humanitarian actors with information on how to effectively integrate environmental issues into humanitarian response and early recovery strategies. It highlights the key opportunities, misconceptions and challenges for mainstreaming environmental issues into humanitarian action.

Youth-oriented Web Series on Toll of Plastic Pollution
Young people band together to save the planet
Given that plastic can take up to a thousand years to decompose, young people will bear the weight of this problem. But they can also be part of the solution, say experts. By engaging youth and raising awareness about the challenge, campaigners can bring about a generational shift in the way humanity consumes and disposes of plastics.
In the first episode of UNEP’s Uncommon Ground web series, host Juan Pablo Garcia is joined by two panelists – Franco Noriega, a Peruvian entrepreneur, and Elizabeth Wathuti, a Kenyan environmental activist. They discuss how plastic pollution contributes to the triple planetary crisis and what youth can do to change this.

Young people are extremely concerned about the climate crisis, and many feel powerless. But energy efficiency can be a strong weapon against climate catastrophe—and there are many easy energy-saving steps we all can take to lower our carbon footprints and help reduce the amount of carbon pollution warming the Earth.
We know, thanks to a new analysis, that energy efficiency can cut both energy use and greenhouse gas emissions in half over the next three decades. That makes efficiency a powerful tool for young people to wield to be an active participant in combating climate change.

This publication from the Union for the Mediterranean focuses on five main areas: housing, mobility, food (nutrition), leisure, and consumer goods.
This publication presents a collection of case studies that are intended to inspire stakeholders, educational institutions, and policymakers, as well as citizens, to promote and adopt sustainable actions. Further, the publication is intended to encourage everyone to think about what environmental impact their lifestyle choices have.
This study connects SDG 4 Quality Education and SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production because "education plays a central role in promoting the change to a more sustainable lifestyle, particularly in its ability to spread acquired knowledge about available alternatives, to raise awareness about climate change and environmental degradation, to motivate individuals to take responsibility for their impact and to change underlying social norms." (Page 8).
