Beitbridge Youth Interface 2019 BYI is a yearly program to celebrate Africa Youth Day. The program began in 2018 as we fostered for the inclusion of young people in policy formulation, strategic planning meetings, opportunities and economic development programs within the Municipality of Beitbridge to mention but a few. We witnessed a lot of transformation in regards to the inclusion of young people in the local developmental projects and programs which was in line with our theme. We reviewed previous achievements which includes The formation of the Junior Council, participation of youths in the Strategic Planning Workshop for the Municipality of Beitbridge, active participation of youths in Municipal programs such as the Mayor's Marathon, evident support from policy makers and leaders in youth led initiatives etc... The 2019 edition was held on the 1st of November with 85 young leaders and influencers around Beitbridge in attendance including the Full Junior Council Members. The theme being ‘Youth Participation in the SDGs’ focusing on Domesticating SDG 11; BYI 2019 gave birth to a Youth Committee that will spear head the building of the first Youth Center, putting together a District Youth Policy and a Youth Desk at the Municipal offices. The committee is made up of 7 members: Nthando Ndlovu, Maureen Maluleke, Rejoice Ncube, Blessing Muza the Child MP, Junior Mayor and one Junior Councillor as members of the committee. The Mayor of Beitbridge His Worship M. Ncube commended the work we are doing. He also assured that the Municipality will back up the youth projects 100% guaranteeing the availability of land for such projects as a starting point. He also encouraged youths to be actively involved in implementing the SDGs in our community and coming up with community friendly projects that are income generating.
